Very disappointing experience with Volo Sports at Carson Beach. We are regular community players who have been using these public courts for a long time, yet we were effectively kicked off the beach because Volo paid for a permit and took over most of the playable area. The situation became hostile enough that state troopers were involved, even though there were no clearly posted maps showing exact permit boundaries. It feels wrong that a commercial organization running paid events can dominate public recreational space and push out the local community from courts that are supposed to be public.

Really nice space! Maybe it’s just because I went on a nice and sunny day, but Volo collaborated with my run club, WNRR and it was an incredibly fun event. Some of the actual Volo events are only okay, such as the dink n’ dunk, and while the leagues may be expensive, it’s definitely fun to go for an outing!

Joined the party pickleball league and it is NOT the β€œparty” I was hoping for. When registering, there was a mention of a DJ and bar. We are now over halfway through the season and no bar has been set up. Additionally, sometimes there is a single speaker playing music. But, no DJ in sight controlling it. In fact, the music from one of the business across the street is louder than the speaker that is sometimes set up. Also, the space itself always appears to be under construction in some way. It’s not the atmosphere I was expecting for a league that costs over $150 to play 6 or 7 games if you are lucky. Being a beginner pickleball league, I expected to be given an introduction to the game. But, the very first time we met for the league all that was given was a very brief explanation of the rules. We were still pretty confused going into that first game. I don’t blame the person who gave the introduction, more so there was just not enough time scheduled for a proper walkthrough. Honestly, I was expecting an experience like what is advertised on Volo’s social media and website. I’ve enjoyed the games but the perks of joining a league vs just playing at a local park just aren’t there

This venue has been such a blast to use the last two years!! It has awesome vibes with great DJs or live performances including a great violinists or bands which always adds to the atmosphere while playing in leagues or pickup games. This venue is really meant for those in Volo with ability to sign up via their app or website. I see a lot of hate about it not being for the public anymore, but this was never really a public space and Volo really transformed the space into something great for a lot of people. Think it’s made the whole area a much more marketable and enjoyable place. With VoloPass it is super fun and has so many options to play some sand volleyball or pickleball. The Downeast bar on site has been an excellent touch since it got added and allows a great mix of socializing and competition. They have awesome Friday socials where it’s open play either for free to all or with Volo pass membership. In general I find myself and many others here at least several times a week in nicer weather. My only wish is that it could be open in the winter somehow cause I miss the good times when it has to close! Can’t wait to see all the future updates to the Club Volo! πŸ“πŸπŸ»

Great place to meet new people who have a similar interest in playing sports! Club Volo offers different sports like pickleball, beach volleyball, bocce ball, and cornhole! I have tried them all and it’s a great time!
